The Cathedral Players are the many St. Mary Cathedral High School students who are interested in theatre and all of its various facets.
Group membership, however, does not simply stop there. The group's extended family includes younger students from St. Mary Cathedral Junior High and Elementary, and the numerous parishioners who guide the students throughout the year.
The activities of the Cathedral Players go well beyond their twice annual productions, which are undoubtedly their largest presence in the community.
Members are represented in the St. Mary Cathedral School Christmas program and have opportunities to attend theatre workshops around the state, where they learn more about the dramatic arts and improve their skills so as to aid the group.
Students who devotedly participate in such events often qualify to join the Thespian Society, an elite national organization that recognizes student excellence both onstage and behind the scenes.
As a vital part of arts awareness, the Cathedral Players sponsor community trips to professional productions.
In the past, they have also brought the renowned youth show choir The Young Americans to St. Mary Cathedral School to conduct intense three-day workshops involving all students from kindergarten through the twelfth grade.
